AIDA Cruises expands AIDA Ahoy tour options out of Kiel, Germany
AIDA Cruises has launched additional AIDA Ahoy voyages aboard AIDAsol out of Kiel, Germany as a result of unexpectedly high demand. The AIDA Ahoy voyages aboard the ship are due to depart from Kiel on May 22nd, 2021, and were opened for booking earlier this month, selling out within days.
As a result, AIDA Cruises will be expanding AIDAsol’s deployment from Kiel, with the new cruises due to open for booking on May 26th, 2021. Details about the itineraries have not been announced. These additional cruises from Kiel are in addition to AIDA Cruises’ resumption of cruise operations elsewhere in the world, including in Grand Canaria aboard AIDAperla, and in Greece aboard AIDAblu.
AIDA Cruises likely also saw a boost in demand as a result of the easing of travel restrictions for German tourists. For all voyages with AIDAperla around the Canary Islands as well as the Greece voyages with AIDAblu (starting on May 23, 2021), the previously required quarantine will no longer apply when re-entering Germany, if guests provide a negative Covid test certificate on arrival.
The 3- and 4 day AIDA Ahoy tours aboard AIDAsol roundtrip from Kiel will be extended until June 26th, 2021. AIDAsol will then sail a 5-day repositioning cruise to Rostock-Warnemünde, from which she will sail similarly short cruises until July 18th, 2021.
In addition to AIDAsol’s expanded season, the cruise line will also be adding AIDAprima as another ship sailing the AIDA Ahoy voyages, with 7-day cruises from Kiel from July 3rd, 2021, until October 23rd, 2021.The AIDA Ahoy cruises don’t feature any ports of call at present due to Germany’s ongoing travel restrictions for North Sea and Baltic destinations, but AIDA says these itineraries will be updated with port calls as soon as its allowed.
All cruises are carried out in compliance with AIDA’s enhanced health and safety protocols, as well as applicable laws and regulations for infection protection. More information is available on AIDA’s website. All originally planned itineraries for AIDAsol between June 12th and July 18th, 2021, and AIDAprima between June 6th and October 23rd, 2021, have been cancelled as part of the new itinerary announcement.
