Kenya: 748 Air Services adds Kisumu to its home network Kenya: 748 Air Services adds Kisumu to its home network

Mainly specializing in aircraft charter and charter flights, 748 Air Services is gradually entering the scheduled flight market, with the opening of domestic routes. The latest is the one connecting Nairobi to Kisumu, a corridor where 4 competitors are already deployed.

748 Air Services inaugurated this Thursday, May 20, its regular line Nairobi - Kisumu. Now, the private Kenyan airline will connect the capital and Kenya's third largest city by daily flight. The route is operated by Dash8-Q400, with a capacity of 76 seats. "Kisumu is very important in our expansion plan, and 748 Air will offer customers a great value option when we officially open the route," Moses Mwangi, its managing director, promised in an interview with Business Daily on Monday.

Prior to the arrival of 748 Air Services, the Nairobi - Kisumu corridor was previously served by Kenya Airways, Safilink, Fly 540 and Jambojet. "The new route will play an important role in facilitating more business and tourism opportunities, and strengthening the lake region as a major business center," said Ahmed Jibril, president of 748 Air Services.

The launch of its flights to Kisumu comes after the lifting of the ban on travel inside and outside Nairobi and four other counties considered to be the epicenter of the Covid-19. This is what justifies the resumption of daily flights from Wilson and Nairobi, to the Maasai Mara. At the base, 748 Air Services has specialized in chartering planes and charter flights since its launch in 1995. Its clients include governments, oil companies and humanitarian organizations such as WFP and UNHCR. Its fleet includes Dash8-400, Dash8-100 and Cessna Caravan.
