Ibom Air gradual move to international flights, receives 2nd Airbus 220 aircraft
Ibom Air, the Akwa Ibom State owed airline is determined not just to help stimulate business activities in the Aviation industry but to show that private airline can succeed if properly run and managed. Starting operations barely two years ago, the airline management has displayed exceptional leadership qualities of innovation, focus, prudence, customer first.
It has ensured on-time departure and has offered passengers excellent service which has attracted commendations from passengers and stakeholders in the travel industry.
The airline started with two Embraer aircraft and today, their fleet has increased to 7 with the gradual increase of aircraft to service all its routes.
Barely a week to receiving an Airbus 220, today June 11, the airline again took delivery of another A220 leased from Egypt Air to expand its routes on the regional and international routes which it is planning to announce soon.
The new Aircraft A220, QI4138 touched down at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos at 1103LT according to the airline. With more route expansion on the part of the airline, passengers will no doubt have options to choose from and having airlines link all airports in the country, will make travel seamless and by the hour.
Statistics show that, as at May 2021, Ibom Air scored 96% schedule reliability and 90% on-time performance. Operated 690 scheduled fights, cancelled only 2 flights, rescheduled 26, delayed 69 and operated 688 flights. It currently operates Uyo, Abuja, Calabar, Enugu and Lagos.
Like the President, Aviation Roundtable Safety Initiative ART Dr. Gbenga Olowo will say, “The more airlines, the merrier”.
