The portfolio of National Aviation Services (NAS) continues to grow. The company, which operates more than 50 lounges at 50 airports in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, has won a new contract in Zambia.

NAS will operate the lounge in the new terminal at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) in Lusaka from August. This is according to a statement issued by the Kuwaiti supplier on Tuesday 15 June.

The new 588 square metre terminal will increase the capacity of the airport to between 4.2 and 6 million passengers in the near future from the current 2 million. It is part of a $360 million mega investment by Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) for the ongoing expansion of KKIA.  With this expansion, the hub is expecting the arrival of new international airlines in addition to the existing ones including Proflight Zambia, Air Tanzania, Rwanda Air, SA Airlink, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, CemAir and KLM,

"With our experience in lounge development and management, we look forward to providing a lounge that will be up to international standards worldwide," commented Hassan El-Houry, CEO of NAS Group.  The new Pearl Lounge will be one of over 50 lounges operated by NAS across its network in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. On this project, NAS collaborated with NAC2000 Corporation, a ground handling services company in Zambia - the only ISAGO-certified company in the country and one that has been in business for over 20 years.

NAS started its ground handling services at Guinea Bissau's Osvaldo Vieira International Airport on Monday 7 June 2021. This is part of a 10-year contract.
