Uganda Airlines expands its global distribution with Hahn Air's HR-169 product
Uganda Airlines is expanding its marketing reach. On Wednesday 23 June, the Ugandan flag carrier signed an interline agreement with German airline and ticketing solutions provider Hahn Air.
The agreement allows Uganda Airlines to expand its global distribution with Hahn Air's HR-169 product. Specifically, the new collaboration will allow Uganda Airlines' tickets to be sold in other markets where it is not a member of the Billing and settlement plan (BSP) - a central point that consolidates ticket data and payments made by travel agents in a region or country.
Uganda Airlines will be able to draw on Hahn air's network of over 100,000 travel agents in 190 markets worldwide. Fares and flight availability are now available through Hahn Air's HR-169 tickets on the Amadeus and Galileo global distribution systems, the two leading computer reservation systems today.
Based in Entebbe, Uganda Airlines currently serves about 10 sub-regional routes, with Johannesburg being the most recent destination opened on 31 May. In its expansion plan, the airline is also eyeing Johannesburg, Lusaka, Harare, Khartoum, Addis Ababa, Lagos, Accra, Goma and Lubumbashi. Outside Africa, Uganda Airlines - which recently signed an interline agreement with Emirates - plans to connect Guangzhou, Mumbai, Dubai and London. Traffic rights have already been secured for the latter two routes. Its fleet consists of four CRJ900s and two A330neos.
