The route will operate three times a week, without competition, with Boeing 737-800 aircraft accommodating 16 passengers in Business Class and 138 in Economy.  Departures are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11pm, arriving the following day at 1.45am, with return flights departing Jordan at 3.15am and landing at 7am.

The new service was previously announced as a July 2019 service, later postponed to October 2019, before being suspended indefinitely. "As an ancient civilization offering an enchanting blend of modernity and tradition, Jordan is an impressive destination for tourists," comments Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of the Star Alliance Group.

The Jordanian capital is also connected to Africa by Royal Jordanian Airlines (serving Tunis, Cairo), Tarco Air (Khartoum), Air Arabia Egypt (Assiut, Alexandria), Air Cairo (Assiut, Sohag, Alexandria), FlyEgypt (Alexandria), EgyptAir (Cairo).
