Turkish Airlines: Luanda scheduled in October, code-share with TAAG Angola Airlines Turkish Airlines: Luanda scheduled in October, code-share with TAAG Angola Airlines

Turkey and Angola want to see their bilateral trade reach a volume of 500 million dollars in the next few years. This is the commitment made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who received his Angolan counterpart João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço this week. They see their national airlines as effective levers for achieving this goal.

Turkish Airlines plans to start services to Angola in October. This was announced by the Angolan Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, on the sidelines of the Angola-Turkey Business Forum held in Ankara on Wednesday 28 July.

The Turkish national company should initially connect Istanbul to Luanda twice a week. This opening of the line is in line with the will of the two States to strengthen their cooperation and boost their economic exchanges, whose annual trade volume, currently 176 million dollars, remains rather low in relation to their respective potentials.

This business forum, whose next meeting will be held in Luanda by the end of the year, was also an opportunity for Turkish Airlines to conclude a code-share agreement with TAAG Angola Airlines. Thus, the Angolan national flag will now be able to use its code on flights operated by Turkish Airlines to more than 250 destinations around the world, including some 40 on the continent.  Conversely, Turkish Airlines will now issue tickets on flights operated by TAAG Angola Airlines through its network.
