United Airlines to fly daily to Accra from December
On 14 May, United Airlines re-launched its service to Accra after a 9-year absence. From Washington - home to the second largest population of Ghanaians in the United States - the carrier is showing satisfactory results and is already thinking of strengthening the route.
United Airlines will increase service to Accra from December. This is according to a statement from the airline dated 22 July.
From December 1, 2021 to February 1, 2022, the carrier will introduce a daily flight between the American and Ghanaian capitals. This route, operated non-stop, is currently served without competition 3 times a week.
The flights will continue to be operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. The state-of-the-art aircraft has 28 seats in Business Class, 21 in Premium Plus, 36 in Economy Plus and 158 in Economy Class.
"The increase in our recently introduced Capital-to-Capital service between Accra and Washington DC reaffirms our commitment to our customers in Ghana and provides even more travel options to our Washington Dulles hub and beyond to nearly 100 destinations across the Americas," said Thorsten Lettnin, United's director of sales for Continental Europe, India and West Africa.
Ghana is also connected to the United States by Delta Air Lines, which currently offers a daily flight between Kotoka-Accra International Airport and New York JFK. The route is operated without occurrence by a 226-seat Boeing 767-300.
