Qatar Airways inaugurates Lusaka and Harare
Qatar Airways currently serves some 20 African cities. Since the start of the health crisis last year, the Qatari national airline has opened four new routes in Africa, Abidjan being the most recent. The airline is now expanding into the southern part of the continent.
Qatar Airways inaugurated its new Doha-Lusaka-Harare route on Friday 6 August. Flight QTR1445, which departed from Hamad International Airport at 2:53am, landed in the Zambian capital at 8:28am. For this inaugural flight, the Qatari flag carrier exceptionally deployed its Airbus A350-900 which can accommodate up to 283 passengers.
The Zambian and Zimbabwean capitals will now be served three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays on the route Doha - Lusaka - Harare - Lusaka - Doha. From next week, the airline will be flying its 787 fleet there.
