Customer experience: EgyptAir launches its E-upgrade offer to facilitate upgrades
EgyptAir launched on Tuesday 17 August 2021 its new service called "E-upgrade". This is a customer offer that allows passengers of the Egyptian national airline to obtain a seat in a higher class (Economy to Comfort or Business) through a bidding system.
Specifically, for a specific flight, "the passenger will have to submit an amount that he wishes to bid, which is chosen among the values - minimum and maximum - displayed. If the bid is accepted, the passenger receives an e-mail confirming that he or she has obtained the ramp, and the new ticket is issued for business class, together with a voucher representing the amount paid for the upgrade. This service can be used from 10 days to 48 hours before the departure of the international flight," the company explains. Once upgraded, the passenger receives the full Comfort or Business Class experience on the flight associated with the offer, including enhanced food and beverage options, increased baggage allowance and priority check-in, boarding and baggage handling.
The entire bidding process is done exclusively online up to 48 hours before the flight and successful bids are non-transferable, non-refundable and valid only on the flight/date for which the bid was submitted, the carrier says. For the time being, this service is only available on flights to and from Dubai, London, England and Milan, Italy. It will be extended to other routes in its network at a later stage.
EgyptAir also offers an instant upgrade service, which allows a passenger to change class at a specified price for each flight during the period from 7 days to 6 hours before the flight.
