Air Malta makes its longest non-stop flight ever to Kigali
Air Malta operated a charter flight to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, on Friday 15 October. Departing Luqa at 2.15am with 135,690 AstraZeneca vaccines destined for the Rwandan government, flight KM7510 landed at Kigali International Airport this morning at approximately 8.50am local time.
This seven-hour direct flight, covering 4,490 km, became the longest and farthest flight ever operated by Air Malta. It was operated with the youngest A320neo (9H-NED, 3.4 years) in the fleet.
"These long haul non-stop flights can now be operated with the airline's new A320neo aircraft which offer additional range, 20% lower fuel costs, are more environmentally friendly and have a 50% lower noise footprint than the older Airbus A320ceo models," the airline commented.
As a reminder, in regular operations, its network of services includes nearly fifteen European routes. Before the health crisis, Air Malta also flew to Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.
