The Director-General of the Tanzania Railways - TRC Masanja Kadogosa recently met with the Rwandan Ambassador to Tanzania Major General Charles Karamba and discusses the implementation of the modern railway construction project - SGR Isaka - Kigali. Dar es Salaam, October 05, 2021.

Tanzania Railways continues with the implementation of the first phase SGR project Dar es Salaam - Mwanza with a total of five pieces, Dar es Salaam - Morogoro, Morogoro - Makutupora, Makutupora - Tabora, Tabora - Isaac and Isaka - Mwanza, either Government The United Republic of Tanzania through TRC has put in place a strategy to ensure that the SGR railway is built and accessible to neighbouring countries including Rwanda.

The meeting between Ambassador Major General Charles and the Director-General Masanja Kadogosa focused on how the modern Isaac-Kigali railway project will be implemented, including how to raise funds to implement the project, but also the cooperation of countries in exchanging experiences with experts.

"The purpose of coming is to see how we will do this work, where the money will come from and how it will be done and another is that, Tanzania has gone far there is work that has been done from here in Dar es Salaam to Morogoro and they have reached 95 and there is another work being done in Morogoro Makutupora and Mwanza - Isaac and we will start from Isaac to Kigali,”said Major General Charles.

Ambassador Major General Charles has outlined some of the benefits that Rwanda will gain through the railway line from Isaac to Kigali Rwanda that will reduce travel time and commodity prices in their country.

"The railway will help us reduce shipping time and will also reduce prices, not just Rwanda, we will pass through Rwanda to the Republic of Congo," said Major General Charles.

Elaborating on a collaborative strategy for professionals and how they are prepared to use Rwandans in implementing this project as is being done in the country, Ambassador Major General Charles stated that they plan to bring experts to participate in the ongoing SGR project with the aim of learning and empowering them.

"We have two ways we want to try so that our professionals get skills, the first way is to bring professionals to work here in Tanzania but also to bring young people to study in college in Tabora so that we start building our own due to the skills and professionals we will get from here in Tanzania. In collaboration with Tanzanian experts,”said Major General Charles

For his part, the Director-General of the Tanzania Railways Corporation Masanja Kadogosa thanked the guest and said that the meeting was to discuss the directives of the Presidents of Tanzania, Tanzania and Rwanda on the construction of a modern railway that will connect the two countries.
