Air Algérie returns to Canada, strengthens Tunisia
After more than a year of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Algeria's air borders reopened on 1 June. This reopening, decided by the authorities, is intended to be gradual, however, thus conditioning the international redeployment of Air Algerie.
The Algerian Ministry of Transport has announced the resumption of the national airline's regular commercial flights to Canada and the reinforcement of those to Tunisia.
This move is "part of the government's efforts to strengthen Air Algerie's current flight schedule to various international destinations," the ministerial note said. Thus, from Sunday 24 October, Air Algerie will increase its frequency of flights to Tunisia from two to three rotations per week on the Algiers-Tunis route, while the Algiers-Montreal link will be opened from Tuesday 26 October with three flights per week.
With this new programme, Air Algerie will now have 49 weekly rotations against 44 currently. Within the framework of reciprocity, foreign airlines operating in Algeria benefit from the same number of commercial flights (49), bringing the total number of flights to Algeria to 98 per week. It should be recalled that since the reopening of air borders, Air Algerie has resumed international services to China, France, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Russia, Spain, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
