TAAG Angola Airlines returns to Namibia after more than a year's absence
TAAG Angola Airlines p lans to re-launch all its pre-pandemic regional services by the end of the year. A gamble that almost paid off.
On Thursday 21 October, at around 2pm, the Dash 8-400 of TAAG Angola Airlines, coming from Luanda with 64 passengers, touched down at the Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek. This was the inaugural flight marking the resumption of the company's direct flights between Angola and neighbouring Namibia. From now on, the Angolan state-owned airline will operate two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Luanda-Windhoek route. TAAG Angola Airlines has no competition on this route, which it suspended on 19 March 2020 due to the health crisis. It is expected that the frequency of flights will be increased in line with demand.

To date, in addition to its domestic services, TAAG has resumed commercial flights to Lisbon in Portugal and São Paulo in Brazil. But also to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Maputo, Sao Tome and Kinshasa. It has also announced on its official Facebook page the opening of reservations for the imminent resumption of flights to Lagos.
To cover these routes, the company can count on its fleet being modernised. Earlier this month, it took delivery of the fourth of six Dash8-400s contracted for 2019. In addition to the turboprops, TAAG Angola Airlines' fleet also includes five Boeing 737-700s, three 777-200s and five 777-300s.
