Royal Air Maroc to return to Doha and Miami in December
In March 2020, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) suspended its flights to Qatar and the United States due to the health crisis. With the reopening of the Moroccan borders, the flag is gradually rebuilding its international network.
RAM announced in a press release that it will re-establish its direct air route between Casablanca and Miami in the United States from 12 December next and that between Casablanca and Doha in Qatar from 24 December 2021.
"We welcome the successive announcements of resumption of flights with important destinations in our network. This indicates a significant improvement in the health situation in our country, as well as internationally, and testifies to the confidence we enjoy with all our partners", underlines on this occasion Mr. Hamid ADDOU, Chairman and CEO of RAM. "We remain mobilized to seize opportunities for the relaunch of additional destinations, and to continue to move forward towards a gradual return to normalcy.
These resumptions will come 21 months after the suspension of these direct routes. Indeed, they were suspended in March 2020 due to the health crisis, the press release recalls.
On the Casablanca - Miami section, the carrier plans two weekly rotations - on Fridays and Sundays. Flights departing from Casablanca will take place at 16:30 (local time) with an arrival in Miami at 19:50 (local time). While, the return flights will leave on the same days at 21:50 (local time) for an arrival in Casablanca at 11:45 (d+1).
The resumption of this air route reinforces RAM's network of direct links with the North American continent where it has three other direct operational routes from Casablanca: New York, Washington and Montreal (this last route will be re-established as from October 29).
To Doha, the Moroccan flagship also plans two weekly rotations in competition with Qatar Airways which operates a daily Boeing 777 route. They are both members of the Oneworld alliance.
Flights from Casablanca will depart every Wednesday and Friday at 14:30 local time, arriving in Doha at 23:20 local time. Return flights will depart every Thursday and Saturday at 01:20 local time, arriving in Casablanca at 07:25 local time.
