Cape Town to launch international campaign to attract more foreign visitors Cape Town to launch international campaign to attract more foreign visitors

The City of Cape Town says it will be launching an international campaign in the coming months to showcase the Mother City’s splendour and attract more foreign visitors. This forms part of plans by the City and tourism body, Cape Town Tourism, to revitalise the tourism sector which has been decimated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities, James Vos, says billboards and public platforms promoting the Mother City will be launched at Munich in Germany, London in the UK and New York in the US. He was speaking during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Cape Town Tourism which was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

“Our destination marketing organisation, Cape Town Tourism, is partnering with tourism agencies and airlines as part [of] … find your freedom campaign. Travel and trade reveal the opportunities and innovation that Cape Town has on offer to the world. I am confident that we will bounce back stronger than before,” says Vos.

In September, experts warned that the country’s fourth wave of COVID-19 infections is set to hit at the beginning of December.

This could have a devastating impact on the tourism industry as this fourth wave is expected to occur in the months where the country will see most of its tourists.
