Emirates returns to Algeria after more than a year's absence
From November 9, Emirates Airlines will resume its services to Algeria. This is what emerges from a press release of the Emirati company dated Monday, November 1st.
From this date, the carrier will offer two weekly rotations - Tuesdays and Thursdays - between Dubai and Algiers, a corridor where it will align its 777 fleet. Return flights to Dubai will be via Tunis.
The EK 757 flight will leave Dubai at 9.30am and arrive in Algiers at 2pm. In the opposite direction, flight EK 758 will leave Algiers at 17:00, stop over in Tunis between 18:20 and 20:00, before continuing to Dubai where the arrival is scheduled for 03:55 the following day. Emirates will compete on this route with Air Algérie which currently offers 3 flights per week with Airbus A330s.
The reintroduction of services on its Dubai - Algiers route comes more than a year after the closure of Algeria's borders in March 2020. With the addition of this service, Emirates will now offer 116 weekly flights to 21 destinations in Africa.
In Southern Africa, Emirates increased its services to South Africa in August from seven to 11 weekly rotations. The airline has also re-established frequencies on the Dubai-Lusaka-Harare route with five weekly flights. On the continent, Emirates currently serves 20 cities in 18 countries (Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Guinea, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia, Seychelles, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe). The number of frequencies is expected to continue to grow as the pandemic develops.
