Jambojet is not yet considering a return to Uganda and Rwanda Jambojet is not yet considering a return to Uganda and Rwanda

The return of Jambojet to Entebbe and Kigali is not yet on the agenda. "Both countries still apply strict measures in the fight against Covid-19. Travel restrictions in both countries have reduced demand. Our sister airline (Kenya Airways) is reducing its frequency on these routes," Ndegwa Karanja, the managing director of the Kenyan national airline, told Business Daily in an interview on Thursday 11 November 2021.

According to the Kenyan business newspaper, all passengers entering Uganda are required to undergo a second PCR test on arrival at the airport, regardless of their immunisation status, with the exception of children under six years of age and airline crew members. The test costs $30 (Sh3, 352), which means additional costs for travellers.

In Rwanda, any passenger testing positive for Covid-19 on arrival in the country or during their stay, even if fully vaccinated, could be hospitalised in a government-run treatment centre, or quarantined in a hotel at their own expense, depending on the severity of their symptoms.

For the time being, Jambojet has only resumed its domestic flights, serving Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi and Ukunda, from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Its route to Mogadishu, Somalia, also remains suspended despite the resumption of international flights in Kenya on 1 August 2020. On the other hand, it opened a route between Nairobi and Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo) on 10 September.
