United Nigeria Airlines commences operations oo Anambra United Nigeria Airlines commences operations oo Anambra

Barely two weeks after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) approved the opening of the newly built Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport for commercial operations, United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) said it would commence direct flight services to the aerodrome as from Saturday.

UNA would be the second carrier to operate flight services to the airport after its opening. Air Peace had last week started commercial flight services to the airport.

A statement by Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, Head, Corporate Communications, UNA said that the airline would operate scheduled regular flights from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja and Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos to the airport on Saturdays and Sundays in the immediate.

The statement hinted that other flight schedules to the airport would be announced shortly.

According to him, the operation was in keeping with the promise to serve its teeming customers faithfully and satisfactorily. Already, booking portals and reservations for ticket sales have been opened on www.flyunitednigeria.com for the commencement of operations.

“United Nigeria Airlines assures its customers of prompt service to unite them with their loved ones and families during the Christmas season and after. “Also, United Nigeria Airlines wishes its customers a fulfilling yuletide and greater fulfillment in the New Year,” he stated.

NCAA had on December 2, 2021 approved the opening of the airport for flight services.

In a letter dated December 1, 2021 addressed to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, the aviation authority said that it has received security clearance from relevant security agencies for the opening of the airport. It said that the negative security clearance was the reason the authority declined approval for the opening of the airport on October 30, 2021, when the State Government officially commissioned it.

NCAA said that in the interim, Category B aircrafts are permitted to land and take off from the airport from sunrise to sunset.
