Costa reveals exclusive Expo 2020 shore excursions for passengers in Dubai Costa reveals exclusive Expo 2020 shore excursions for passengers in Dubai

On the same day that it marked the official opening of the new Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal with its first passenger services, Costa Cruises also revealed a new shore excursion in the city. Costa Cruises has collaborated with the Italian Pavilion at the Expo 2020 in Dubai to provide its passengers with unrivaled access to the site.

Costa is homeporting its new ship Costa Firenze in Dubai, cruising roundtrip in the Arabian Gulf from December, 2021, to March, 2022.Her itinerary, which includes long stops at the ports of Dubai (two days) and Abu Dhabi (a full day, from 9am to midnight), allows guests to enjoy Expo 2020 Dubai to the fullest.

Costa Cruises is a gold sponsor of the Italian Pavilion, enabling the company to offer exclusive visits for its passengers, which it says are true “grand tours” to discover the Italian excellence showcased at the Expo. Costa Firenze passengers will be able to enter the Expo without queuing up, and explore the almost 200 country pavilions throughout the site, which has been built over an entire new district of Dubai.

The Italian Pavilion will of course be a focus for Costa Cruises, with guides in foreign languages for international passengers. Covering an area of 3,500 square meters, the Italian Pavilion is highly recognizable thanks to the three large “hulls”, which are covered with coatings made from food scraps and form the world’s largest tricolor of the Italian flag.

The theme that runs through the pavilion is “Beauty connects People,” recognizing beauty as the element capable of combining multidisciplinary knowledge and skills of the past, present and future. The pavilion features a “garden of stories” and a synthesis of different elements, which are not exclusively related to the world of art and culture, but represent a social tale of the know-how of Italian companies.

Costa Cruises sees itself as part of that story, playing a leading role in the sustainability-themed forums in the transport and tourism sectors, an area in which Costa Cruises has positioned itself as a pioneer with the launch of two LNG-powered cruise ships, and the retrofitting of its fleet with environmentally-friendly technology.

At the end of the visit, participants in the “grand tour” of Costa’s Italian Pavilion will be guests of Bvlgari for a unique dining experience.
