Viking Osiris is one step closer to joining the fleet
Viking River Cruises' newest ship, the Viking Osiris, was floated out on Jan. 26 and is now moving into the final stages of construction as it moves closer to its scheduled August debut on the Nile.
Similar to other models of Viking's existing vessels, the Viking Osiris features 41 staterooms as well as an Aquavit Terrac indoor/outdoor cafe.
Plans call for the 82-passenger ship to sail Viking's Pharaohs and Pyramids itinerary, a 12-day itinerary that takes gueswts to some of Egypt's most historic sites, including the Great Pyramid of Giza, the necropolis of Sakkara and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali. New this year and just in time for Viking Osiris' sailings is the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum located on the Giza Plateau in Cairo. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb.
The Viking Osiris will join the Viking Ra on the Nile. Another ship, the Viking Aton, will debut in Egypt in 2023.
