Emirates resumes double-daily services from London Gatwick
Emirates has expanded its Gatwick service to double-daily, with the airport served by both the 777 and the A380. The introduction of the second daily Gatwick service takes Emirates’ total UK weekly flights to 91.
“We have seen a considerable uptick in demand for international travel in recent weeks, particularly from the South East and are pleased to be expanding our operations from Gatwick,” said Richard Jewsbury, Divisional Vice President, Emirates UK. “Emirates is fully committed to the UK and we have operated flights from the airport for over 30 years, providing vital connectivity to Dubai and across our international network for passengers travelling for business, leisure or to visit loved ones. The route has also carried billions of pounds worth of cargo into and out of the region – supporting UK businesses of all shapes and sizes.”
Stephanie Wear, VP of Aviation Development, Gatwick Airport, commented: “We were delighted in December with Emirates’ return to Gatwick and this expansion of the service is testament to the success of operations here. The double-daily flights to Dubai will open up a fantastic range of destinations in Asia, Africa and beyond to tourists and businesses across the south-east.”
Emirates currently offers a six times daily A380 London Heathrow service, double-daily A380 flights to Manchester, a 10-weekly service to Birmingham, a daily service to Glasgow, a four-weekly service to Newcastle, and now a double-daily service to Gatwick.
