EgyptAir adds Kinshasa in DRC to its African network
EgyptAir continues to expand its African network. On the continent, the Star Alliance airline already connects some twenty destinations including Cameroon and Chad in Central Africa.
EgyptAir will enter the Congolese market from Sunday 27 March. The direct route between Cairo and Kinshasa will be operated without competition three times a week by Airbus A320neo. The aircraft can accommodate 16 passengers in Business Class and 126 in Economy Class. For the launch of this route, the airline is offering a 35% discount for "tickets purchased from now until 27 March 2022 in Economy and Business class, provided that the return flights are until 1 July 2022".
Once the route is effective, EgyptAir, which operates a fleet of more than 60 aircraft, will have 21 African services to 19 countries across the continent. "EgyptAir has developed ambitious plans to expand its route network to reach new destinations of strategic importance in Africa in order to offer several travel options to its customers on board the latest aircraft types," said Amr Abu El-Enein, chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company. "This is in line with the vision of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to strengthen its footprint in Africa in various fields of air transport through the hub of Cairo International Airport, and in line with the guidelines and interest of the state to support cooperation with African countries.
The Star Alliance company will be joined at N'Djili airport in Kinshasa by other African carriers such as Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, RwandAir, Uganda Airlines but also European companies such as Turkish Airlines, Air France or Brussels Airlines.
