Etihad Airways to return to Zanzibar seasonally next summer Etihad Airways to return to Zanzibar seasonally next summer

As summer approaches, airlines are increasing the number of seasonal routes to capitalise on the increase in demand to tourist destinations. Etihad Airways will continue this tradition this year.

Etihad Airways will reopen four former seasonal routes next summer, namely Heraklion and Santorini in Greece, Malaga in Spain, and Zanzibar in Tanzania. Specifically, the last destination will have three weekly flights from 17 June 2022. The corridor between Abu Dhabi, the Emirati capital, and the Tanzanian tourist city, will be operated by Airbus A320-200, with a capacity of 136 seats (16 in business class and 120 in economy).

"Etihad Airways is delighted to offer travellers more choice for their summer holidays in 2022. Crete is an ideal summer destination for travellers looking for a mix of beach and mountain adventure. And the hotspots of Malaga, Santorini and Zanzibar, are a perfect complement to Etihad's summer network," said Martin Drew, senior vice president, sales and cargo, of the UAE carrier, in a statement released on Tuesday 22 February 2022.
