Sudan: Badr Airlines becomes a member of IATA
IATA now represents some 290 airlines in 120 countries, carrying 83% of world air traffic.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is expanding. It announced in a press release that Sudanese carrier Badr Airlines will become a member as of 1 March 2022. Based in Khartoum, Badr Airlines- formerly Sarit Airlines - offers scheduled and charter passenger flights mainly on domestic routes (Port Sudan, Geneina, Nyala). It also serves neighbouring South Sudan (Juba, Wau, Malakal), Nigeria (Kano), Egypt (Cairo), Turkey (Istanbul), and the Middle East (Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha). The carrier also deploys on cargo operations for humanitarian organisations such as WFP, UNICEF, MSF, FAO and the Red Cross. Its active fleet currently comprises three Boeing 737-800s and four 737-500s.
The airline is a member of the Association of African Airlines (AFRAA) and the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO). Badr Airlines is IOSA certified and also a member of the Association of African Airlines (AFRAA) and the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO).
