KQ reduces Nairobi-Kisumu flights - to operate daily London flights
Kenya Airways (KQ) has reduced flights on the Nairobi-Kisumu route from 26 to 17 weekly attributing it to a 'low season' affecting domestic flights which are dominated by low-cost budget carriers. In a statement outlining the network review program, the national airline said the review 'is informed by the return to air travel as the aviation industry recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.'
As part of its route network review program, the airline also increased London flights from five times a week to daily.
Increased London flights, KQ said, signal the fastest recovery to the pre-Covid schedule.
Similarly, KQ has postponed the launch to the Italian cities of Miland and Rome previously planned for June 8 2022 due to reduced passenger demand as a result of slower than expected recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We continue to serve Italy through our European destinations: London, Paris, and Amsterdam connecting to our SkyTeam Partner Airlines, ITA (Italia TrasportoAereo) and Air France-KLM," KQ made operation day change for the Juba-Khartoum route to cater for Sudan Weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) by operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The airline noted that the review 'will be adjusted as the world continues to open up and opportunities for growth continue to show themselves.'
