Royal Air Maroc inaugurates service to Israel, codeshare with El Al
In December 2020, Morocco and Israel strengthened their diplomatic relations. As part of this rapprochement, the airlines of both countries have since been allowed to connect the two territories. After several postponements due to the pandemic, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has finally entered the Israeli sky.
From now on, RAM will offer four weekly flights - which will soon be increased to five rotations per week - between the two cities. On this 5.20 hour one-way trip, RAM will use its Boeing 737-800 fleet with a dual-class configuration of 159 seats, including 12 in business class. The inaugural flight was operated by Dreamliner.
"This new air route is intended to meet the expectations of the Moroccan community established in Israel, which maintains strong links with its country of origin, as well as all tourists and business travellers between Casablanca and Tel Aviv," says the carrier.
In the wake of this inauguration, RAM signed a code-share agreement with El Al on Monday 14 March. This partnership, which came into effect immediately, will include, in a first phase, direct flights between Morocco and Israel, operated by the two carriers. The Israeli public flag carrier has been linking Tel Aviv and Marrakech (three times a week) since July 2021.
"This agreement will contribute to the strengthening of the airline's traffic, and will offer passengers a connection to additional destinations, as well as a better customer experience thanks to optimised connections and end-to-end check-in operations, with international assistance at the airports of the networks operated by both airlines", confides Hamid Addou, the CEO of Royal Air Maroc.
