Royal Air Maroc and EgyptAir suspend flights to Russia Royal Air Maroc and EgyptAir suspend flights to Russia

According to the Russian Association of Tour Operators, the decision follows pressure from insurance companies which are now declining to cover routes to Russia, a country engaged in an armed conflict with neighbouring Ukraine.

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and EgyptAir have temporarily suspended their services to Moscow in Russia. So far, the two African carriers have not officially communicated about the suspension. However, Flightradar information shows that EgyptAir's MS729 (Cairo-Moscow) and RAM's AT220 (Casablanca-Moscow) flights scheduled for 17 March have been cancelled.

In normal operations, RAM serves the Russian capital three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while Egyptair connects to Russia every day of the week.

Since the end of February, several flights to and from Russia have been suspended due to the military operation in Ukraine and the subsequent Western sanctions against the Russian aviation industry. In turn, Russia has implemented reciprocal measures closing its airspace, making flights from Europe to East Asia much longer.
