Transavia inaugurates its Nantes-Dakar rotation Transavia inaugurates its Nantes-Dakar rotation

Announced since 2020, Transavia's new Nantes-Dakar route had been delayed due to a health crisis.

Transavia, the low cost subsidiary of the Air France group, has inaugurated its new service to Senegal from Nantes in France. On Wednesday 25 May, flight TO8020 landed at Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport at around 2.50pm local time.

From now on, the low-cost airline will offer a weekly rotation between the two cities every Wednesday until 26 October 2022. The route between Nantes and Dakar, which is 3885 km away, is its furthest destination. It has no competition on this corridor operated by Boeing 737.

"It has been a long time since Dakar was served directly from Nantes. But today, it is a destination for which the demand is the strongest. We already have many passengers who go from Nantes to Dakar and who have to go through other airports in Europe. Now they will be able to make the trip directly and in just over 5 hours", says Nicolas Henin, Commercial Director of Transavia France.

This new route completes the airline's summer programme from Nantes, which already includes two new routes: Figari and Oujda. Transavia had also reopened its services to Reykjavik and Rome and extended its routes to Fez and the Canaries (Fuerteventura and Lanzarote). In total, 36 destinations will be served this summer by the company from Nantes. France and Senegal are also linked by Air France and Air Senegal, which offer daily flights between Dakar and Paris. In addition, the Senegalese flag carrier serves Marseille and Lyon.
