RwandAir celebrates five years of operations in London RwandAir celebrates five years of operations in London

RwandAir currently operates three weekly rotations between Kigali and London Heathrow (Terminal 3), with a short stopover in Brussels. The route is operated without competition with its Airbus A330 fleet.

A break to celebrate RwandAir's successful London venture. It was on 26 May 2017 that the Rwandan national flag carrier launched flights to London Gatwick for the first time. Subsequently in 2020, the carrier repositioned itself to London Heathrow, the UK's busiest airport.

"The UK is a very important market for us, with the routes helping to bring friends together, deepen trade links and tourism links between the UK and Rwanda," commented Simon Rickman, Country Manager UK of RwandAir." We thank all those who have chosen to travel with us over the past five years and all the airline colleagues who have played their part in making this route such a success.

From next month, the carrier will add additional flights to London, shortly before the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which will be held in Rwanda for the first time. The additional frequencies will run from 11 June to 3 July, including several direct rotations between the two countries.

From its hub in Kigali, RwandAir currently serves 28 destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Its fleet, one of the youngest on the continent (9 years old), comprises twelve aircraft: one A330-200, one A330-300, four 737-800, two 737-700, two CRJ900 and two Dash8-400.
