EgyptAir inaugurates Dublin in Irland EgyptAir inaugurates Dublin in Irland

Announced since mid-2020, EgyptAir's service to Ireland had been repeatedly postponed due to travel restrictions amid the health crisis.

EgyptAir now serves Ireland. The Egyptian state-owned carrier opened a route between Cairo (its base) and Dublin on Thursday 2 June 2022. It offers 4 weekly flights (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays), in Airbus A320neo of 142 seats (16 in business class and 126 in economy class), and without competition.

"The opening of this new route coincides with the celebration of EgyptAir's 90th anniversary, and confirms the airline's plan to expand its network by serving new destinations, and increasing frequencies to several others," says EgyptAir.

"We are very pleased to welcome EgyptAir to Ireland, and to add Cairo to Dublin Airport's extensive route network. Cairo is one of the world's great cities, and we will work closely with EgyptAir to promote this new route, which will be welcomed by business and leisure travellers," promised Dublin Airport's managing director Vincent Harrison in March.

"Due to Ireland's important location in the western part of the European continent, Dublin Airport represents a strategic hub for passengers travelling to Egypt's main leisure destinations of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Aswan, in addition to EgyptAir's network of more than 40 destinations in the Middle East and Africa, with more destinations expected to be added in the near future," EgyptAir's CEO Amr Nabil said in March. In 2019, nearly 14,000 passengers travelled between the two capitals.

With the launch of this new route, Egypt's national flagship now serves 25 destinations in some 20 European countries.
