Botswana commits to MICE providing a new strategy
Botswana's Ministry of Tourism has affirmed its commitment to hastening the recovery of the tourism industry and surpassing pre-pandemic levels. Several initiatives are being implemented to achieve this goal.
At the 2023 HATAB conference, Botswana's Minister of Tourism, Philda Nani Kereng, announced that the Botswana Tourism Organization is developing a Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) strategy to enhance the destination's competitiveness and offer a diverse range of products.
The MICE strategy will promote Botswana as a MICE destination to international markets and identify and address the infrastructure and skills gaps necessary for the growth of the MICE industry. The Minister emphasized that the MICE industry is adapting to meet the increasing global demand, and the development of the MICE strategy presents an opportunity not to be missed.
The strategy will identify tourism value chain activities suitable for local entrepreneurs and aligned with Botswana's reset agenda.
