Tanzania Railways Corporation Seeks Expertise For Business Transformation Tanzania Railways Corporation Seeks Expertise For Business Transformation

The Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) is taking a forward-thinking approach to revolutionize its operations and position itself as a leader in the transportation sector. In a recent tender announcement, the corporation has expressed interest in partnering with qualified consultants to draft a comprehensive Business Transformation Strategy.

This move comes after a General Procurement Notice (GPN) was released on 12/07/2022. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, recognizing the crucial role railways play in national development, has allocated funds for the financial year 2022-2023 to streamline TRC’s operations. A portion of these funds will be utilized for this transformative consultancy.

The Ambitious Vision

The primary goal of this consultancy is not only to review TRC's current business strategies but also to redefine them for a sustainable future. The new strategy aims to:

Elevate the efficiency, profitability, and sustainability of both TRC's and TAZARA's operations. Capitalize on the ongoing construction of the SGR Railway network and synergize with the TAZARA Railway Line to enhance market share. Evaluate and recommend the possibility of private sector participation in rail operations and infrastructure management. Revamp the organizational structure to mirror international best practices in railway management and operations. Explore avenues for revenue expansion, including real estate investments for both TRC and TAZARA.

TRC is on the lookout for firms possessing a robust track record in business transformation. Interested parties are expected to furnish profiles, evidence of similar undertakings, and insights into their expertise and staffing capabilities. Firms are also encouraged to collaborate to present a stronger joint qualification.

Committed to transparency, TRC will adhere to the procedures outlined in the Public Procurement Act No. 7 of 2011 and the Public Procurement Regulations, 2013. The selection will predominantly focus on the quality of service and cost considerations.

For those eager to be part of this monumental project, further details can be obtained from TRC's office in Dar es Salaam or by reaching out to pmu@trc.co.tz. The deadline for electronic submission of Expressions of Interest is 21/09/2023, 10:30.

It's a new dawn for Tanzania's railway sector, and this initiative promises not only to redefine TRC’s position in the market but also to contribute significantly to Tanzania's broader transportation landscape.
