FITUR 2025 Kicks Off as Brazil Takes Center Stage as Partner Country
The 45th edition of FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair organized by IFEMA MADRID, opened with great fanfare on January 22, 2025, with the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain. They were welcomed by José Vicente de los Mozos, President of IFEMA MADRID’s Executive Committee, alongside a distinguished delegation of ministers, government officials, and tourism industry leaders from across the globe.
This year’s event stands out as a key platform for global tourism, bringing together 9,500 companies, 156 countries, and 884 exhibitors, including 101 nations with official representation. Spread across nine halls, FITUR remains one of the most significant gatherings for the international travel trade, offering opportunities to forge partnerships, share knowledge, and discover destinations worldwide.
One of the highlights of the 2025 edition is Brazil’s participation as the Partner Country for FITUR. Located in Hall 3, Brazil’s delegation was led by Minister of Tourism Celso Sabino, the President-Director of EMBRATUR (Brazilian Tourism Board), Marcelo Freixo, and the Brazilian Ambassador to Spain, Orlando Leite Ribeiro. During the event’s inauguration, Brazil’s representatives welcomed Their Majesties at the Brazilian stand, which showcases the country’s vast tourism offerings.
FITUR’s Partner Country program provides Brazil with a unique platform to highlight its rich cultural heritage, biodiversity, and tourism potential to an international audience. For African travel agents, this is an excellent opportunity to explore collaborative opportunities with Brazil, particularly in promoting eco-tourism and cultural exchanges between Africa and South America.
The opening ceremony also saw a tour of the exhibition halls, where authorities and attendees explored the diverse offerings from the companies, destinations, and exhibitors participating in this year’s fair. As always, FITUR serves as a hub for business networking, knowledge exchange, and tourism innovation, making it a must-attend event for professionals in the travel trade.
Running from January 22 to 26, 2025, FITUR continues to solidify its reputation as the largest meeting point for the global tourism sector. For African travel professionals, the event presents opportunities to expand business networks, discover new destinations, and stay ahead of industry trends.
With Brazil taking center stage as Partner Country, this year’s edition promises to inspire new ideas and collaborations, underscoring the importance of international partnerships in shaping the future of tourism. Travel agents and industry stakeholders are encouraged to engage with the event to leverage its full potential for growth and innovation.
