As of April 23, 2025, the eThekwini Municipality has provided an important update regarding the status of its beaches and swimming pools, ensuring that both locals and tourists are informed about water quality and available facilities in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Currently, 21 beaches in Durban are open and deemed safe for swimming, operating daily from 06:00 to 18:30. These beaches include:

- Bronze Beach
- uMhlanga Main
- uMgababa
- Toti Main Beach
- Pipeline Beach
- uShaka
- Addington
- Country Club
- North Beach
- Bay of Plenty
- South Beach
- Thekwini Beach
- Wedge Beach
- mDloti Main
- Battery Beach
- Doonside Beach
- Winklespruit
- Anstey's Beach
- Brighton
- Reunion
However, two beaches remain closed due to water quality concerns:
- Laguna Beach
- Westbrook
While swimming is prohibited at these locations, other recreational activities are still permitted, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
