Proflight Zambia Boosts Capacity on Key Southern Africa Routes for Peak Season Proflight Zambia Boosts Capacity on Key Southern Africa Routes for Peak Season

Travel agents across Africa, get ready! Proflight Zambia, a leading airline in Southern Africa, is significantly expanding its flight schedule to key destinations, creating exciting new opportunities for travel professionals.

Responding to surging demand during peak season, Proflight Zambia is adding a third daily flight between Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) and Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport (JNB). This boost in capacity will be available on peak travel days, including weekends and select holidays, from 27 September 2025 to early January 2026. This expansion translates to a 14.3% increase in weekly seat capacity on this vital route, offering travel agents more flexibility to meet their clients' travel needs.

The new evening service, flight P0029, will depart Johannesburg at 20:30 and arrive in Lusaka at 22:30. The return flight, P0028, will leave Lusaka at 16:30, arriving in Johannesburg at 18:30. To further enhance connectivity during the holiday rush, additional weekday flights will be available from 1 December 2025 to 3 January 2026.

This strategic move by Proflight Zambia comes at a time of remarkable growth in passenger traffic between Zambia and South Africa. Zambia’s international passenger numbers have not only rebounded but surpassed pre-pandemic levels, with Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport leading the recovery. This surge in demand is fueled by a combination of factors, including increased leisure tourism, major international events, and the overall recovery of the African aviation sector. Proflight Zambia’s expansion directly addresses this growing demand, providing seamless connections for travelers between these two key Southern African hubs.

Beyond the Lusaka-Johannesburg route, Proflight Zambia continues its commitment to connecting key destinations in the region. Direct flights between Cape Town International Airport (CPT) and Livingstone’s Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI), as well as flights between Cape Town and Lusaka via Livingstone, will continue to operate on Thursdays and Sundays. In response to passenger feedback, the Lusaka to Cape Town flight will now depart later in the morning, offering a more convenient schedule for travelers.

The updated schedules for the Cape Town routes are as follows:

Cape Town to Livingstone (P0051): Departs 12:35, arrives 15:25

Livingstone to Cape Town (P0050): Departs 08:40, arrives 11:40

Cape Town to Lusaka via Livingstone (P0051): Departs 12:35, arrives 16:50

Lusaka to Cape Town via Livingstone (P0050): Departs 07:15, arrives 11:40

These schedule enhancements are perfectly timed to capitalize on the Southern Africa peak travel season, which runs from November to early January. This period sees a surge in both leisure and business travel, driven by favorable weather conditions, school holidays, and a rise in international arrivals. Proflight Zambia’s expanded capacity caters to this increased demand, offering travelers greater flexibility and convenient travel options.

For African travel agents, these developments present a golden opportunity. The increased flight frequencies and enhanced connectivity open doors to crafting more diverse and appealing travel packages. Whether it's a safari adventure in Zambia, a city escape to Johannesburg, or a coastal getaway in Cape Town, Proflight Zambia’s expanded schedule makes it easier than ever to connect clients to the best of Southern Africa.
