Royal Air Maroc and Malaysia Airlines Codeshare to Expand Africa–Asia–Europe Connectivity Royal Air Maroc and Malaysia Airlines Codeshare to Expand Africa–Asia–Europe Connectivity

In a strategic move to enhance global network reach, Royal Air Maroc and Malaysia Airlines have launched a new codeshare agreement that will significantly boost connectivity between Africa, Europe, and Asia. The agreement, now in effect, leverages both airlines’ positions as members of the oneworld Alliance and utilizes their major hubs in Casablanca and Kuala Lumpur.

For Africa’s travel sector, this development introduces new opportunities for smoother, more flexible itineraries across three continents. The partnership is set to improve travel options for passengers departing from or arriving in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially as the new codeshare covers pivotal routes linking Casablanca and Kuala Lumpur to major international gateways such as Doha, London, and Paris. These cities serve as essential connection points not only for leisure travellers but also for business, diaspora, and trade flows between Africa and the rest of the world.

This codeshare allows Royal Air Maroc to place its code on selected Malaysia Airlines-operated flights, while Malaysia Airlines will do the same on Royal Air Maroc flights. This arrangement provides customers with the convenience of single-ticket booking, streamlined baggage handling, and seamless transfers across the two carriers’ networks. Travellers can now enjoy more direct access to destinations in Southeast Asia, leveraging Kuala Lumpur as a gateway, while also connecting African travellers to Europe and beyond via Casablanca.

For African tour operators and ticketing professionals, the enhanced connectivity opens up new product possibilities and makes multi-city itineraries more attractive. The benefits extend to corporate travel planners seeking efficient air links for clients with business interests spanning the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. As trade and tourism ties between Africa and Asia continue to expand, the ability to market new routes and offer more competitive travel solutions is expected to fuel demand and encourage new partnership opportunities within the region.

The collaboration between Royal Air Maroc and Malaysia Airlines also strengthens the oneworld Alliance’s value proposition on the continent. African passengers now have easier access to frequent flyer benefits, reciprocal lounge access, and priority services, enhancing the travel experience for both leisure and business segments.

As the aviation sector adapts to shifting market dynamics and increasing demand for intercontinental travel, partnerships like this codeshare demonstrate the importance of strategic alliances in delivering greater choice and flexibility. For Africa’s travel industry, the Royal Air Maroc–Malaysia Airlines agreement stands as another example of how regional airlines can leverage international partnerships to drive growth, improve service offerings, and connect African markets to the world’s fastest-growing economic and tourism corridors.
