Essence of Africa 2026 Set to Spotlight Zanzibar’s Coastal Charm in Premier Tourism Forum
Following the resounding success of its second edition along Kenya’s scenic coast, Essence of Africa has announced that its 2026 gathering will be hosted at Diamonds Bijoux in Zanzibar from 20 to 22 October. This move underscores the event’s evolving strategy of showcasing Africa’s premier tourism destinations by rotating its forum across the continent’s most vibrant hubs.
Zanzibar’s selection as the 2026 venue reflects its rising prominence on the global tourism map. The island recorded a notable 10% increase in international arrivals in December 2025, a testament to its growing appeal as a tropical getaway just a short flight from East Africa’s renowned safari circuits and adventure hotspots. This strategic location allows international buyers the opportunity to craft compelling multi-stop itineraries that weave together Africa’s diverse travel experiences, combining beach, culture, and wildlife.
Amanda Margison, Co-Founder of Essence of Africa, praised the partnership with the Diamonds group, highlighting the seamless collaboration that began with their property in Malindi. “The launch of their new Zanzibar property provides an ideal backdrop for our international buyer forum,” she noted, emphasizing the shared commitment to investing in quality products and people that add genuine value for buyers and African exhibitors alike.
Chris Mears, Essence of Africa’s Co-founder, reiterated the forum’s continental vision. “Bringing Essence of Africa to Zanzibar aligns perfectly with the event’s rotational format and the growing significance of Africa’s island and coastal destinations,” he said. “Zanzibar offers a compelling contrast to traditional safari experiences, blending pristine natural beauty, vibrant culture, and a deep sense of place. Hosting the forum here gives global travel professionals firsthand insight into how destinations like Zanzibar elevate African travel itineraries.”
The 2026 edition aims to build on the momentum generated by the previous year’s event in Malindi, which attracted 158 international buyers from 39 countries engaging with 150 African exhibitors over more than 5,600 pre-scheduled business meetings. Curated by On Show Solutions and ATTA® Group Events, Essence of Africa continues its mission to foster commercially impactful connections between global buyers and Africa’s diverse tourism suppliers, enriched by immersive destination experiences and insightful content sessions.
Exhibitor registration opens on 16 February 2026, with attractive early bird rates available. For travel professionals seeking to expand their portfolio with authentic African destinations, Essence of Africa 2026 presents a vital opportunity to engage with the continent’s evolving tourism landscape in one of its most captivating settings.
