Ivory Coast ratifies air transport agreement with Rwanda
The Ivory Coast and Rwanda are closer by air. The Ivorian government, meeting in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday September 23, adopted a decree ratifying the agreement on air transport between the two countries.
This open skies-type agreement, signed on November 27, 2015 in Abidjan, "respects all the main principles of air transport liberalization, as advocated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)". In its application, "it provides, in particular for the free exercise of traffic rights and multi-designation which offers each contracting party the possibility of designating one or more air transport companies to open up other networks and increase the offer. of air services ”.
For the Ivorian authorities, the ratification of the said agreement will allow national airlines, notably Air Côte d'Ivoire, to extend its services to other destinations.
Note that RwandAir, the national airline of Rwanda, has connected the two countries since October 2016. The road has been temporarily suspended due to Covid-19.
