Air Mauritius relaunches international flights on October 2
Air Mauritius is reconnecting with the international market by reopening its services to France and Reunion. From October 2, the Mauritian national carrier will offer two weekly flights between Plaisance airport and Paris. Its corridor to Réunion will be relaunched three days later, on October 5, with one connection per week.
At the moment, these two schedules are only valid for the month of October, pending any changes. Before the crisis, Air Mauritius also flew to London, Perth, Cape Town, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Geneva.
As a reminder, the reopening of the Mauritian borders takes place in three phases. The first, which concerns the repatriation of Mauritians stranded abroad, began since the country was closed in mid-March, and ends on Wednesday, September 30.
The second begins today, October 1, and will focus on the authorization of travel from or to "certain destinations". At this level, places will be granted in the following order of priority: Mauritian nationals, residents holding a permit, those working in Mauritius, and finally other visitors wishing to travel to the country of Indian Ocean. According to Air Mauritius, the latter category is only reserved for tourists traveling for long stays.
The third phase, which consists of the total reopening of the country, will begin on a date which remains to be determined, depending on the evolution of the country's health situation. For the last two stages, access to Mauritius will of course be done in accordance with a defined health protocol.
