Cape Verde: towards the imminent resumption of international flights
In Cape Verde, the Council of Ministers will approve this week, a resolution authorizing the resumption of international flights in the country. On August 1, the country opened up to "essential flights" to and from Portugal. Domestic connections, meanwhile, have been in effect since July 15.
International flights to and from Cape Verde may resume in the coming days. This Tuesday, October 6, the Cape Verdean Prime Minister affirmed that the government will approve, during the Council of Ministers this week, a resolution authorizing the resumption of international flights in the four international airports of the country (that of Rabil, Amílcar Cabral d 'Espargos, Nelson-Mandela de Praia and Cesária-Évora de São Pedro).
This revelation was made by Ulisses Correia e Silva on the sidelines of the installation ceremony of the board of directors of Agostinho Neto hospital in Praia. "It is important for that, that everyone collaborates [...] And to collaborate, it is to respect the rules of wearing a mask, social distance and regular washing of hands", prescribed the head of government.
He is delighted that the islands of Sal and Boa Vista already have Covid-19 centers and internationally certified public and private health services, which make them capable of reopening to tourism.
On August 1, Cape Verde opened for "essential flights" only to and from Portugal. Since then, trips for family, professional, school, official and humanitarian reasons are possible between the two countries. They are provided by the Portuguese companies TAP and SATA, and the Cape Verdean national carrier, Cabo Verde Airlines. These continued until the official opening of Cape Verde's borders. Domestic connections have resumed since July 15.
