Ethiopian Airlines suspends flights to Argentina until 1 November 2021
In an effort to prevent new strains of Covid-19 from entering its territory, Argentina has closed its skies to certain countries, including several in Africa. Ethiopian Airlines, annoyed by the drastic travel restrictions imposed by Buenos Aires, prefers to temporarily exit the market.
"Due to the recently announced closure by the Argentine authorities, of the border between the country and the African continent, and the repeated administrative decisions that restrict air transport, added to the schedule changes and cancellations of scheduled flights that we have received in recent weeks, it has become impossible for the company to continue to offer regular passenger and cargo service. "
This is the reason given by Ethiopian Airlines (ETH) on Tuesday 22 June, to suspend with immediate effect, its route between Ethiopia and Argentina. Although the Ethiopian national airline is considering resuming flights between Addis Ababa and Buenos Aires from 1 November, it warns that the suspension will remain in force "until the health situation improves and the aviation authorities grant authorisation to plan regular flights".
