Emirates to increase A380 flights to Mauritius to twice daily next summer
On 8 February, Emirates re-established its entire pre-Covid-19 African network by reopening its route to Casablanca, Morocco. Now, the UAE's national airline is working to increase the density of certain routes, depending on demand.
From 1 July 2022, Emirates will offer two trips per day between Dubai and Port Louis. But before that happens, the Emirates flagship will increase its weekly service from seven to nine routes between April 9 and the end of June. The service is and will remain operated by Airbus A380, offering 14 first class suites, 76 business class sleeper seats and 426 ergonomic economy class seats. The gradual increase in density aims to "meet the growing demand for travel to the island nation".
"Emirates' second daily flight will give a significant boost to tourism to the Indian Ocean destination, which has now eased entry restrictions for travellers. The additional flight will also provide more choice in flight schedules and seamless connectivity for customers from the European, Americas and Middle East markets, who wish to travel to Mauritius to enjoy its sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and lush natural landscapes," Emirates said in a statement released on Tuesday, 5 April 2022.
Emirates remains unchallenged on this route, which it has served since 2002. "Over the past two decades, the airline has made a significant contribution to the local economy and tourism, carrying visitors from its global network covering six continents," the company said. It should be noted that the UAE flag carrier has also increased its route to Johannesburg in August 2021 from seven to 11 weekly flights.
