Zambia Airways to launch JNB route
Zambia Airways 2014 Limited has announced the introduction of a direct flight between Lusaka and Johannesburg, South Africa on 1st July 2022.
Announcing the development on behalf of Zambia airways, transport and logistics minister Frank Tayali is optimistic that this will strengthen ties between the two countries. And speaking when he opened the Zambia airways central ticketing office at Lusaka’s east park mall, Mr. Tayali said government is already implementing the aviation strategy as can be seen by the reduction in packing fees for all small aircrafts at all airports.
Mr. Tayali says government is also formulating the aviation sector strategic plan whose goal is to develop capacity, traffic and economic development and sector collaboration. At the same event, Zambia Airways Chief Executive Officer Tayib Jiru has disclosed that the airline has since its inception been making up to k 1 million in profits on a monthly basis.
Mr. Tayib says new aircrafts are expected to be added to its fleet in a months’ time especially with the introduction of the South African route.
